## Programme

- **Practical sessions** — In every class you will carry theory straight into live work on stage, testing how far existing theatre techniques still hold and learning hybrid forms of art.
- **Theoretical sessions** — Discussion of texts, films, performances and other works of contemporary art that help us think through what it means to make theatre here and now.
- **An open final session** — The course ends with an open session showing the students' work. Admission is free for everyone, by prior registration. At the end of the course participants present the results of their work — sketches, performances or stage études. It is a chance to share what they have found with like-minded people and to get feedback.

## Over two months you will

- Master contemporary theatre techniques that bring together elements of acting, directing and performance.
- Explore the key questions: what does it mean to be an artist in the 21st century? How are the roles and tasks of the actor, the director and the performer changing in a new social context?
- Practise twice a week, going deep into physical, acting and performative training.
- Discuss ideas and theory twice a week, drawing on texts by leading thinkers and researchers of art.

## Who this course is for

This course is open to anyone who wants to study contemporary theatre and performance. No previous experience is required. All that matters is your readiness to research, your interest in art, and your wish to discover new forms of expression.

## What you will get from the course

- **Practical skills** — You will master tools you can use whether you are making the work or watching it.
- **Personal growth** — Watching and making a performance helps you live with the paradoxes of reality. You will start to look closely at the world around you, to tune and focus your attention, and through reflection to find your own sore points and bring into public conversation whatever troubles or astonishes you.
- **A deeper understanding of art** — You will learn to read the many incarnations of contemporary art, theatre and performance. Above all, though, making theatre makes life fuller and more dimensional.
- **The artist in you** — Being an artist is a normal thing to be: it helps you find your own language and it opens up the beauty of everyday life.

**Important — a talk before the course**

Before enrolment there is a short conversation with the course author, Ilya Moshchitsky, on Zoom or Telegram. It is there to understand the applicant's goals, expectations and motivation — to tune in to each other, line up expectations, and keep the risk of a mistake, a coincidence or wasted time to a minimum.

- **Price:** 54,000 AMD (was 60,000 AMD) for the whole course — the reduced price applies to anyone who pays before 15 March
